In fibroblasts treated with UVB-irradiation (10 mJ/Sq.cm) an increase in the MMP3 (11.5-fold after 24 hrs compared with mock-irradiated cells) protein levels was observed which reduced (by 42-88% compared with UV-treated controls) upon treatment with rapamycin (a specific inhibitor for FRAP) and/or aphidicolin (a NER or long-patch BER inhibitor). This suggests that FRAP1 may be involved at least in part in the upregulation of MMP3.
