Stimulation of CD4+ CD161+ Lamina Propria Mononuclear Cells (LPMC) from patients with Ulcerative Colitis with 721 cells transfected with CD1d and subactivating concentrations of PMA and IL-2 (50 U/ml), resulted in a 4-fold increase in the amount of IL-13 secretion by CD4+ CD161+ LPMCs (NKT cells) as compared with stimulation with PMA/IL-2 alone. This indicates that the NKT cells are Cd1d restricted.
