TGF-1beta treatment significantly decreased miR-155 expression levels (Fig. 6A). Although TGF-1beta also up-regulated the expression of the hAT1R gene (Fig. 6B), the time course for the increased production of hAT1R mRNA did not correlate well with the time course for the enhanced synthesis of hAT1R protein levels since these values remained higher than expected at the 8 and 12 h time points (Fig. 6, C versus B). Therefore, the sustained increase in hAT1R protein levels cannot be accounted for by only a transcriptional mechanism and suggests that post-transcriptional mechanisms must also be involved.
