Over-weight and moderately obese patients maintained on very low calorie diet, were given either sub cutaneous injections of 80mg pegylated leptin or matching placebo (8 ml). Blood ICAM1 (intercellular adhesion molecule 1) levels were estimated before and after weight loss. Weight loss has led to a significant decrease in level of ICAM1 (from 165.4 (34.1) to 141.9 (31.4)) in Peg-ob treated group.
